03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

My weekend:
- Closing night of West Side Story - I'll miss it, but I can't say that I don't enjoy all of the extra time I'll have. Unfortunately, closing night performance wasn't as good as Thursday or Friday's, which were probably the best ones out of the entire set of 13. Speaking of which, apparently, no other school-sanctioned theatre company puts on more than 12 shows other us and maybe the Harvard School of Theatre - don't know how much I believe that, but either way, it was definitely a positive experience to put under my belt
- We had a cast party at the Ab afterwards. I got to know some of the people a little bit better which was really fun, and plus there were a few gift presentations that were hilarious. Seriously, my cheeks hurt because I was smiling so hard. Plus, the Ab really is a nice pub - great atmosphere, nice set up, etc... maybe next year I'll make a note to go a little bit more often. My gift from the producers was a nightlight (being the lighting girl) - it's really cute, I must show y'all. Anyway we mingled, we joked, we hugged, we all professed our love for Johnny Beers and I got home around 3.
- Sunday was sort of...fun, but at the same time, it was torture. Even though the production's done its run, it was time to strike the set. I seriously saw parts of Vanier that I never ever want to see again - for example, the VCP workshop, which is apparently where all the set pieces are made and where a majority of our props are kept. A whole bunch of us were given the task of organizing this Bohemian hell hole. Seriously, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in, quite possibly, 20 years. Dust was no longer dust, it was dirt. But it was pretty funny because we were all sort of, "I've got the black lung, pa!" and quoting various other movies and other misc. pop culture things like Strong Bad(!). The not so fun parts of the day were due to the fact that we had to be there until around 6 PM, and we were all hungry, tired and sweaty by the time we were done. Oh, and I got hit in the head with a plank of wood, which was real great.

So that was it, and the VCP chapter of this year has been closed. Maybe next year I'll actually audition, but even if I don't get a part, I'll be happy doing lights again!
